New York Stock Exchange Closing Bell Set to Rumble on August 28

Harley-Davidson executives, board members and thousands of Motor Company customers, will remotely ring the New York Stock Exchange closing bell live from Club H.O.G.® 25 at Harley-Davidson’s 105th Anniversary celebration in Milwaukee, Wis., at 4:00 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, August 28, 2008.

New York - Club H.O.G. 25 celebrates the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) 25th Anniversary, which is the world’s largest factory-sponsored motorcycle owners group, boasting more than 1 million members in 1,400 chapters around the world.

Ron Perlman Swaps Hell for Leather

The actor stepped out at Paramount Studios in Hollywood on Sunday night for the special premiere screening of his new TV show Sons Of Anarchy.

US Nationwide - The show, which is set to air next week, explores a notorious outlaw motorcycle club.

Ron admitted he had his reservations about signing on to a big US show. He said: "It's a big commitment and I frankly wasn't looking for a television show. It just came off of Hellboy 2. My movie career was finally just starting to get how I wanted it to get and this thing just came out of the blue, but it was an offer I couldn't refuse."

$10 Million Bankruptcy Liquidation of Custom Motorcycle Parts

Ten million dollars' worth of American Ironhorse custom motorcycle parts are set to be sold in bankruptcy liquidation beginning Friday, September 12, in Fort Worth, TX.

Texas - This huge liquidation of excess motorcycle parts for V-Twins and choppers will be held at American Ironhorse Motorcycle's factory, 4600 Blue Mound Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76106, to sell off excess parts not needed for new production. Liquid Asset Partners LLC in joint venture with Hilco Merchant Resources LLC is conducting the sale.

Vet Saves Biker Who Lost Leg in Crash

A quick-thinking war vet has been hailed as a hero for saving a motorcyclist’s life after his leg was torn off in a head-on crash with an allegedly drunken Boston probation officer’s car.

Massachusetts - John Melson, 37, used crash victim Mark Cronin’s belt to make a tourniquet and stem the bleeding after Cronin’s left leg was severed in the crash on the Neponset River Bridge in Quincy on Saturday morning.

Man Charged With Leaving Scene of Wreck Has History of Fleeing Cops

A Jackson man charged with crashing his motorcycle Saturday night and leaving his dying fiancee on the pavement has a history of criminal flight and violence.

Michigan - Richard D. Pickett, 48, has served at least four prison sentences totaling about 20 years, according to Department of Corrections records. He was released May 2 after serving six years for third-degree fleeing police.

Bikers Escort WTC Steel from NYC to Pennsylvania Memorial

The roar of 1,000 motorcycles accompanied a steel beam from the World Trade Center on Saturday as it traveled to Pennsylvania, where it will be part of a memorial to those who died there in a Sept. 11 airliner crash.

New York - Hundreds of current and retired FDNY firefighters left Brooklyn's Floyd Bennett Field at about 7 a.m. to escort the girder on the 311-mile ride to Shanksville, Pa. The group arrived in Shanksville Saturday evening.

Local Motorcycle Shop Owner Indicted for Fraud

Three years ago, the owner of Mid-West Choppers was building a custom tribute bike for the 9-11 Foundation. Now he could face 30 years in prison.

Illinois - Chip Miyler is accused of swindling customers out of about $900,000. A federal indictment issued this week charges Miyler with five counts of mail fraud, two counts of wire fraud and one count of bank fraud.

TN Traffic Deaths Drop, With One Exception

One of the more beneficial side effects of a slowing economy and rising gas prices is a decrease in traffic fatalities.

Tennessee - Last year, traffic deaths fell to 41,059, the lowest since 1994, and the fatality rate - 1.37 deaths per 100 million miles - was the lowest ever, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

"Thanks to safer vehicles, aggressive law enforcement and our efforts, countless families were spared the devastating news that a loved one was not coming home," said Transportation Secretary Mary Peters.

Latest Gas Price Problem: Shortage Of Motorcycle Tags

If you're looking to get a tag for your motorcycle you'll likely have to get in line and wait. In Sedgwick County, a drastic spike in new bike titles has caused the county to run out of tags and it's a shortage being felt across the state.

Kansas - "I went up to the lady and said I just got a new motorcycle and she said, "Well, we don't have any motorcycles tags," says Russell Bozarth, who recently bought a new motorcycle.

Sturgis Rally May Be Smaller

Fewer vendors are registered with the city of Sturgis for the annual motorcycle rally that starts Sunday.

South Dakota - City Finance Officer Fay Bueno said the total number of vendor licenses that had been sold at the close of business Friday was 95, compared to the 115 licenses sold for the 2007 rally.

Palm Springs Right to Welcome Biker Weekend to Palm Canyon
