Motorcyclists Make Annual Noisy Salute to Veterans in D.C. Parade

For hours on Memorial Day tens of thousands of bikers poured over the bridge into Washington in the 22nd annual tribute to veterans past and present, missing and present, that has become a festival of remembrance and an eye-popping, ear-shattering cultural event.
Washington DC - Shortly after noon yesterday, Paul Stancliff, 65, with his bad heart, gimpy arm and bum right leg, anchored himself and his tall, homemade flagpole at the east end of the Memorial Bridge near the mammoth bronze statues of Valor and Sacrifice.

Choppertown Guys Launch Facebook for Bikers

A new motorcycle-themed social network for bikers, launched by indie filmmakers, is filling a void in a hungry niche.
US Nationwide - Applying the same core principles that enabled them to inspire a motorcycle film-making renaissance, producer/directors Zack Coffman and Scott DiLalla have created a website for grease monkeys worldwide who share a common love of choppers, crotch-rockets, Harleys, Triumphs, cafe-racers, and all motorized two-wheeled vehicles called Choppertown Nation.

Harley-Davidson Launches “Build It and Win It Sweepstakes”

Beginning today, contestants have an opportunity to personally design and win a custom 2009 model Harley-Davidson motorcycle by entering the “Build It and Win It” sweepstakes presented by Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories.
Wisconsin - The sweepstakes utilizes The Customizer (www.harley-davidson.com/customizer), an interactive web tool on a mini-site attached to harley-davidson.com that allows contestants to build a virtual dream bike based on 2009 Harley-Davidson models. On The Customizer, visitors can choose any 2009 Harley-Davidson model and then select from dozens of custom options, including Color Shop custom paint sets, Screamin’ Eagle performance components, hand and foot controls, custom front end parts and decorative collections, and add and remove them on a virtual motorcycle.

Motorcycle Deaths On The Rise In California

According to the California Highway Patrol, 2008 is quickly shaping up to be the deadliest year for motorcycle deaths.
California - "The only thing in common is that they're all male, but even then, all their ages are varying as well," said California Highway Patrol Officer Todd Thibodeau.

The Softer Side of Chrome at Biker Week

A sea of leather and chrome rode into Palm Springs this weekend for the seventh annual "American Heat" bike week. The crowd continues to grow every year, attracting new audiences.
California - We all know that women like things that shine, but its not just jewelry catching their eyes anymore. Now, it's the glimmer of chrome attracting their attention. Organizers at "American Heat" say more women are gearing up and hitting the road.
"It's been a great phenomenon in the last five years," says Randy Burke, President of " Road Shows."
